3.s in Russia

Though Russia is only a 2 hour flight away, it feels like a whole new world. When we landed in St. Petersburg, we were picked up by our Russian hosts and the first song on the radio toward our home for the next four days were Justin Bieber, even in Russia Justin Bieber is on the radio.

We got the same feeling multiple times. They watch American movies, eats English candy and looks like your typical Copenhagener. But still there are many differences. Their food habits are confusing to say the least, cake is breakfast and cheese is served at all meals. In Russian school we have learned that Cairo is the dirtiest country, Russia won World War 2 and they were the first om the moon.

Russia is a rollercoaster. Homestay was an experience we will never forget and no one can look at a slice of cheese without getting a headache. We are pouring down water, because the Russians apparently only drink tea. But the Russians hospitality has been amazing and you cannot help but to feel a bit spoiled, when you are the only one who gets their own room in a 50 square meter apartment. Now we are staying at a hostel and enjoy the freedom of it. We are enjoying ourselves in St. Petersburg and are not at all ready to go home.
