3.t in Singapore

We arrived in Singapore's clean extravagant airport after 14 long hours with swollen feet on the plane. We were going directly to homestay filled to the brink with excitement, expectations and prejudices. Deon, the girl I was staying with, and her dad picked me up at the airport and drove us to their home half an hour from central Singapore, where Deans mother greeted us at the door. For dinner Deans mother made us an Indian rice a chicken dish which we ate with right hand sitting on the floor engaged in lively conversation. The next day Deon told me that she found it strange for me to have kept my socks on the day before, as I wasn’t going anywhere, I imagine she feels like I would have had someone kept their jacket on inside during dinner. Some culture is unsaid and difficult to read, the rest of my stay I kept my socks of inside as the rest of the family and enjoyed feeling like I fitted in. Today me and Deon said ou goodbyes and I gave her a hug to show her my gratitude for her and her family’s hospitality.

We are all in 3.t very agreed upon the homestay having been a great experience and it has disowned a lot of our prejudices. Now we have arrived at our hostel which is in central Singapore with a view over Singapore River. We have taken off our metaphorical socks and are all excited an ready to see, smell and taste much more of Singapore.
