Merry Christmas!!!

As the days become shorter and Christmas and New Years draw closer, it is time for us to send our warmest greetings to all of Rysensteen’s partners and friends all over the world.

2016 has been a year of new pedagogical and academic initiatives under the umbrella of Rysensteen’s Global Citizenship Programme: Our senior students have all taken a course in intercultural understanding before their exchange trips and after the trip they have done an oral test based on intercultural theory and their own reflections on experiences with other cultures. All of our students have started using a “logbook” to document their acquisition of international and intercultural competences. And we have furthermore developed a new Global Citizenship Programme webpage that we hope all of our partners will help to contribute to. We want these initiatives to not only benefit the students of Rysensteen but also our partner school students, and we are eager to share our experiences with all of you, should you be interested.

The Global Citizenship Programme truly comes alive during our students’ exchange trips and the many, many visits we receive from our partners abroad. During these trips and visits the concept of Global Citizenship becomes tangible and concrete for all of our students – Danish and foreign alike. We believe that these visits are a testament to the fact that our international and intercultural collaborations reach far beyond a mere professional level; that they have in fact become bonds of friendship.

In this time of strong nationalist and isolationist sentiments all over the world, we are proud to be associated with all of you – our international partners – in working to form a generation of true Global Citizens. A generation that has great love for their own countries, but at the same time is willing to learn from and about other countries and cultures and will therefore, hopefully, come to care not only for themselves and their own but for the world as a whole.

Thanks to all of you for your spectacular engagement and inspiration during 2016

From all of us, to all of you: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
