Preconditions and demands for documentation in a profile application


Here you can see whether you live up to the requirements for enrollment through Rysensten Gymansium’s international profile.

Applicants that can be enrolled on the basis of Rysensteen Gymansium’s GCP-profile and regardless of the applicable legislation of enrollment must have special international and intercultural competences. These competencies are defined as:

  • Knowledge o norms and values of other cultures
  • The ability to function in other cultures connected to education, which - among other things - could be the use of foreign language skills
  • Applied knowledge on and results with global issues (for example through NGO-work), such as economic globalization, the relationship between culture and nation state or the relationship between economic growth and environmental sustainability


You apply through one of the five categories below, that you believe you live up to. It is possible to apply through more than one category. If you do so, you must upload relevant documents from all the categories you apply through.

1. Two-cultural background, for example

  • Applicants, who through a two-cultural upbringing, have gained special intercultural competences - either through multiple languages and/or through daily shifts between different cultural norms and values in their home and in school. Applicants, who can document experiences of complexity in their multicultural upbringing and/or school, will be prioritized. (If it’s possible a personal statement (e.g. from a teacher, counselor or school leader) that describes the applicant's work on shifting between two different cultures, should be attached). 2. Exchange abroad

  • Applicants, who have been through an exchange abroad for a minimum two semesters. If the exchange is not completed on the time of the application, documentation for the planned length of the exchange is demanded. Enrollment is on the condition that the exchange is carried out in its full length. (Documentation from a relevant teacher or leader on the exchange school that documents the applicants international and intercultural competences is required and must be attached) LINK TO APPLICATION

 

3. International NGO-engagement or political work

  • Applicants, who through their secondary school have worked in a determined manner with international or intercultural tasks in a NGO or the youth wing of a political party, that can be documented regarding the applicants specific tasks in the organization. (Statements from the organization that documents the applicants international and intercultural competences is required and must be attached) LINK TO APPLICATION

 

4. Applicants, that have lived and went to school abroad as a part of their upbringing

  • Applicants, that has lived and went to school abroad as a part of their upbringing in a minimum of five months (Statement from a relevant teacher or leader on the foreign school that documents the applicants international and intercultural competences is required and must be attached)
  • If the stay abroad has ended more than three years from the date of application, further documentation for acquired international and intercultural skills have been maintained (e.g. maintaining of language skills and cultural exchange) is required. The application can’t be accepted if this maintenance cannot be documented. LINK TO APPLICATION

 

5. Final exam from a secondary school or boarding school with an international programme

  • Applicants with a final exam from a secondary school or boarding school with an international programme. The applicant must be enrolled on the international line/programme of the school. (A programme of the content of the education and a statement from a relevant teacher or leader on the foreign school that documents the applicants international and intercultural competences is required and must be attached) LINK TO APPLICATION

 

Required documentation is:

  • The applicant’s own description of achieved intercultural competences
  • A statement from a teacher, counselor or school leader that describes the applicant’s achieved intercultural competences. It could furthermore be descriptions of the international programme from the school and it has to be signed and stamped by the institution.
  • In the case that Rysensteen Gymnasium should receive more applications than we have vacancies, a selection among the applications will be undertaken. The focus in the selection will be on the fulfillment of the demands of documentation, the quality of the applicant's own description of gained intercultural competences and the statements from the applicant’s previous institutions.
