MUN in Hamburg

I was alongside ten other students from Rysensteen attending ”Alster Model United Nations” in Hamburg. Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulated UN-conference, where students represent various countries in different committees. In Hamburg students from schools in more than five different countries attended. At the conference I was attending as chair. My committee was to debate two economical topics: stability of currency and sustainable tourism. It was my task to lead the debate over the five days the conference lasted. When not attending the model UN I was staying at a German host family and got to practice my German.

After two days in the committees the resolutions are finished and everybody meet up at the General Assembly to discuss the resolutions passed by each committee. It can be a bit nerve-wracking to stand up in front of over a 100 critical students, but the students from Rysensteen did very well. In the end there are given prizes for the ‘Best Delegate’ in each committee. In this Rysensteen students won 3 out of 5. All in all it has been very exciting to attend the conference and to get to know a city like Hamburg.
