3d in China 2024

Lat week 3.d went to China. Frida from 3.d tells: As part of Rysensteen Gymnasium's GCP program, we naturally started the trip with a homestay in Hangzhou. We spent 5 days with our partner family here. We experienced Hangzhou's beautiful nature and sights, including West Lake, Lingyin Temple, and conducted a museum analysis at the Liangzhu Museum. It has been a trip full of experiences where we got a firsthand insight into the daily lives of Chinese youth, as we also went to school with our partner students. We practiced calligraphy, Tai Chi, and learned traditional Chinese drum dancing. We can definitely say that we have gained a better understanding and insight into Chinese culture, both as a class and individually. We ate traditional Chinese food, everything from delicious dumplings to pig brain.

After our 5 days in Hangzhou, the trip continued to the world’s third-largest city, Shanghai. Here we went on city walks, had group dinners, drank mocktails at rooftop bars, and attended unique lectures, including from Stepping Stones, an NGO working with what is called “leftover children” in China. We also visited Fudan University, where we had some really good conversations with Chinese students as part of our GCP film project. Of course, we spent our free time playing tourists on our own and practicing our Chinese.

The trip to China has been exciting, educational, and incredibly fun. As a class, we have shared funny experiences, stories, and created memories for life.
